Athletics tracks in Ulricehamn
Is it possible to build athletics tracks on the Tingsholm gravel track in Ulricehamn? This feasibility study will answer that!
About the project
Ulricehamn Athletics Club has through the feasibility study examined the conditions for establishing a new athletics facility at Tingsholm's gravel pitch. The result shows that there is space for a facility with either six or eight running tracks. Drawings, technical documentation, as well as investment and operational calculations have been prepared. The estimated investment is approximately 30 million kronor for six running tracks and 35 million kronor for eight, where the larger option also requires changes to the road to Tingsholm High School.
The feasibility study has had a broad anchoring. A survey with 126 responses from individuals between 6 and over 80 years has been conducted and dialogue has been held with, among others, the municipality, RF-SISU, associations, as well as councils for the elderly and people with disabilities. The work has resulted in a specific accessibility document for the continued planning. Study visits to other athletics facilities have also provided valuable experiences regarding design, materials, construction, and operation.
The ground conditions have also been examined and no decisive geotechnical or environmental obstacles have been identified. The feasibility study thus provides a concrete basis for moving forward with the investment. The next important step is a new detailed plan, which the municipality needs to be responsible for and fund. The produced drawings, calculations, and other documentation can then be used directly in the continued planning and design of a future athletics facility.

Tingsholm's gravel pitch.”
The board's decision justification
A feasibility study that can create a new meeting place where many different groups can participate in both the development, the activities and future offerings. The reference groups will be present throughout the feasibility study to take into account multiple perspectives, e.g. children and young people, the elderly, people with disabilities and environmental considerations.
