What social crises can arise and how can a village be helped in the first stage? This project will investigate this in a preparedness tour around Sjuhärad.
Pepp & prepp | March 6, 2027 | Borås
– the fair about preparedness, self-sufficiency and outdoor life
How can you best prepare for a social crisis?
How are outdoor activities and preparedness related?
And what does self-catering actually mean?
Just over 60 enthusiastic exhibitors and 15 enthusiastic speakers helped 2,000 curious visitors get answers to these questions when we filled Åhaga in Borås to capacity during Pepp & prepp 2025. Below you can see a short film of what it looked like.
We are now preparing for a new fair on March 6, 2027 - put the date in your calendar now!

Defibrillators on the road
Every minute counts in the event of a cardiac arrest. What if help was already on the way when it happens? Now it actually is! As part of our emergency preparedness project Redo, we have equipped people who drive a lot for work with defibrillators, so now help is literally on the way.
Out of 35 interested entrepreneurs, five were selected, who together cover the entire Sjuhärad: Filip Petersson, Mia Gustafsson, Emelie Johansson, Peter Wichers and Robin Lantz. In early March, they gathered at Hyssna community center for training in CPR and first aid – and to receive the defibrillators that now come with their cars.
Apply for up to SEK 25,000 for a preparedness initiative!
Associations and organizations have an important role when it comes to crisis preparedness. During our preparedness meetings, many good ideas have emerged. That's why you can now apply for up to SEK 25,000 in micro support. Prepared for efforts that strengthen your preparedness and enable you to help others in the event of a social crisis.
The support can, for example, be used for skills development, communication equipment or crisis boxes with materials and supplies. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis as long as there is money left to distribute.
Get started! Get ready for the unexpected.
How do you and your family cope with a long-term power outage, contaminated water or food shortage? In the fall of 2024, such questions were at the center of attention when community centers around Sjuhärad became arenas for inspiration, knowledge and community around preparedness.
Our experiential tour gave participants concrete tools for crisis management within three themes: water purification, food security, and lighting and heating without electricity. They got to try out practical activities such as purifying water, lighting gas lanterns, and using a fire escape – and refreshments were served on the theme of preparedness. TThe temperature in the cooled community center was measured before and after the meeting – it was a clear illustration of how collaboration can create warmth in a double sense.
All eight meetings have now been completed. Many thanks to everyone who participated!
Collaboration is the key!
We know that when different actors contribute their expertise, a project can be really good. In this project, we collaborate with the emergency response coordinators in Sjuhärad's eight municipalities and the following partners:
Sjuhärad community center district
Sjuhärad community center district host the emergency preparedness evenings and contribute with networks and practical support on site. The community centers contribute to preventive crisis management in many ways. Here You can read more about how.
Emergency preparedness expert
Torbjorn Selin
Torbjörn Selin from All in Nature Sweden, has many years of experience in community emergency preparedness at local, regional and central levels in the country. During the emergency preparedness evenings, Torbjörn lectures and leads the workshop on local emergency preparedness in the community centers.
LRF Youth Sjuhärad
The more food we produce, the better prepared we are. Profitable and competitive businesses in peacetime are a prerequisite for a good supply in wartime. LRF Youth brings together members aged 16 to 36.
Student Association Adult School Sjuhärad
Student Association Adult School offers study circles on emergency preparedness themes for continued in-depth study of the subject, including ”The village hall – a hub in times of crisis”, which was developed together with the Bygdegårdarna nationally.
Municipal emergency preparedness work
Municipalities have the overall responsibility for coordinating the planning and management of crises and extraordinary events that may occur within their respective geographical areas. They are primarily responsible for ensuring that our essential services function properly.
Click on the logos below to read more about each municipality's emergency preparedness work.
Civil Defence Agency (MCF)
The Civil Defense Agency strengthens society in preventing and managing accidents, crises and the consequences of war.
Here they have collected advice that is aimed directly at you as a private individual. in topics such as home preparedness, fire safety and natural disasters. The brochure "If a crisis or war comes" was sent to all households in 2018. Have you lost your ex? Here You can order a new brochure, listen to it or download it.
Challenge yourself! Can you handle the crisis? In MCF's "Seven Days" Challenge” You get to practice, without preparation, how to handle a long-term power outage.
For children and young people there is also Little Crisis Info, which tells in a simpler way about serious events that affect many people in Sweden.
Several organizations are working on the issue of preparedness. Meet some of them here:
In the event of social disruption and crisis, many actors contribute within their respective areas of responsibility. Here are some of them:
Swedish Blue Star
The Swedish Blue Star has society's mission to take care of farm animals in times of crises, outbreaks of infection and other events that may affect the animals. There is good information here. about how you can best help your animal(s) if a crisis occurs.
Civil Defense Association

Red Cross
If there is a flood, power outage, forest fire or water shortage - what do you do? Here are the tips from the Red Cross: that makes you prepared if the crisis comes.
About the project
We live in a time when preparedness has once again become a topical topic and there is a great demand to learn more about how to prepare for a possible social crisis. There are many actors in society who work with crisis preparedness in different ways. However, for many people, the overall picture of the responsibilities of different actors and whether it is reasonable to expect help from society is missing. Since municipalities are primarily responsible for their core mission, civil society plays an important role in this context.
In the first part of Redo, two emergency preparedness tours were carried out around Sjuhärad to increase knowledge about emergency preparedness, so that the conditions are in place to handle potential crises successfully. The project was carried out with the help of emergency preparedness expert Torbjörn Selin, and in close collaboration with the emergency preparedness coordinators in Sjuhärad municipalities, Sjuhärad community center district and the Sjuhärad Adult Education Association. A small-scale emergency preparedness fair (25 exhibitors, 4 lectures and 200 visitors) was also arranged at Brämhults gård on 8/3 2024.
In the second part of Redo, the emergency preparedness fair Pepp & prepp will be arranged at Åhaga on 8/3 2025, with the theme of preparedness, self-sufficiency and outdoor life. This time, just over 60 exhibitors participated, 11 lectures were arranged and a total of just over 2000 people were present. The project will also make a call to distribute five defibrillators to people who drive a lot in their jobs in the Sjuhärad countryside. These people will receive training in CPR and First Aid, and will register as SMS lifeguards. A networking day for SMS lifeguards is also an activity in the project.

The board's decision justification
After the application was received and presented in the LAG, as well as an interview with the applicant, the scoring in the selection criteria has shown that the project is well aligned with the strategy and is expected to meet some of the goals and indicators we have committed to during the program period.
Redo 2.0 is an important part of Leader Sjuhärad's strategy within the focus area Meeting places, activities and networks. Based on previous projects, a need was created for participating organizations to further develop the concept. Redo 2.0 is the result of this and also creates new networks through the preparedness fair, SMS lifeguard day and the call for mobile defibrillators. By holding the fair centrally in Borås and at a large facility, more people are given the opportunity to participate and gain new knowledge in the field of preparedness.
