Arena development Lassalyckan

Ulricehamn Ski Event AB's feasibility study will investigate the possibilities to further develop Lassalyckan as a multifunctional arena.

About the project

Lassalyckan already functions today as a well-known arena for both national and international competitions in cross-country skiing. Despite the successes, Ulricehamn Ski Event AB sees a need to further develop the area to attract more visitors and events. Through a feasibility study, they will evaluate the conditions for building a full-size biathlon facility, a permanent grandstand, and an event house together with local actors and stakeholders. The feasibility study will include cost estimates, drawings, and analyses to clarify how such a development can strengthen sports practice and the local association life.

A biathlon facility – the next step to strengthen sports

In the feasibility study, Ulricehamn Ski Event AB will investigate the possibilities to build a full-size biathlon facility with a 50-meter shooting range. This investment would open up for high-level biathlon competitions. Currently, Ulricehamns IF conducts biathlon activities with air rifles at a distance of 10 meters, which limits the opportunities for training and competition. A full-size facility would not only provide better training opportunities for local athletes but also attract more training camps and competitions to Ulricehamn.

Space for more meetings and events

In addition to the biathlon facility, the feasibility study will analyze the possibilities to build a permanent grandstand and an event house at Lassalyckan. By increasing the capacity for both sports and cultural events, a permanent grandstand would make Lassalyckan an even more attractive meeting place. An event house could in turn be used for competitions, concerts, educational activities, and meetings, which would attract more visitors and increase tourism in Ulricehamn.

Collaboration and local anchoring

To capture all local interests, Ulricehamn Ski Event AB plans to conduct meetings, interviews, and workshops with local associations, Ulricehamn municipality, and nearby businesses. These activities aim to create broad support and a common vision for how Lassalyckan should be developed. The team behind the feasibility study will also visit other arenas and facilities to gather inspiration and learn from previous projects.

When the feasibility study is completed, Ulricehamn Ski Event AB will have a well-developed plan and a strong decision-making basis to take the next step in the development of Lassalyckan. The project will provide a clear picture of what investments are required, how financing can occur, and what positive effects the investment can have for sports, culture, and the tourism industry in Ulricehamn.

Cut from the application

”The feasibility study will investigate how we can develop Lassalyckan into a place for both sports and culture, where more events and meeting places can contribute to attracting a broader audience to Ulricehamn.”

The board's decision justification

The feasibility study should be seen as an important piece of the puzzle for further developing Lassalyckan – partly by wanting to extend the season into summer by inviting culture, which in itself is still only active on the site to a limited extent. Developing winter activities further with new directions should also be seen as important additions to developing Sjuhärad's already rich countryside.
