Feasibility study: Paddelled Nossan
A feasibility study for a paddle route through four municipalities.
About the project
The feasibility study Paddelled Nossan has shown that there are good opportunities to develop a quality-assured and accessible paddling trail in Nossan. Through inventory from canoeing, the river's conditions have been mapped, and a proposal for a paddling trail approximately seven miles long has been developed. The inventory has also identified obstacles and what measures need to be taken to proceed with the establishment of the trail.
The work has been carried out in collaboration between Essunga, Grästorp, Vårgårda, and Herrljunga municipalities and has involved a large number of associations, businesses, landowners, and other stakeholders. Through meetings, workshops, study visits, and practical inventory, a network around Nossan has been established, where several stakeholders have expressed interest in participating in a future paddling trail. The Swedish Canoe Federationband other organizations with experience in paddling trails have also been involved.
The feasibility study has simultaneously highlighted natural values and accessibility issues so that a future trail can be developed with consideration for both people and the environment. The result provides the municipalities with a concrete basis for the next step and shows what is required for a future implementation project. The decision on how to proceed with the work now lies with the four municipalities.
Cut from the application
”"The feasibility study will give us a clear picture of how we can develop Nossan into an accessible and sustainable canoeing route that strengthens both natural values and the tourism industry."”
The board's decision justification
The feasibility study could lead to Sjuhärad being strengthened with more activities and meeting places, and to increased collaboration between entrepreneurs. It is good that a risk analysis is produced of the impact of paddle tourism on the environment.
