Playground and accessibility at Bollevi

In recent years, Hestrafors IF has transformed Bollevi into a vibrant sports center that attracts people of all ages. Despite the success, however, something has been missing to make the area feel completely complete. Previously, there was an old playground that was removed to make way for a new artificial turf field. The result of this was that children and siblings of football players have lacked a place to play during training, matches and meetings. Therefore, the association has now decided to build a new playground.

The new playground will be a place for spontaneous play and movement for children, while also serving as a natural gathering point for parents and families. In short, it will complement Bollevi's already wide range of activities.

An accessible sports center for everyone

In addition to the playground, the association also wants to connect the different parts of the facility with an asphalt walkway. The path will extend from the parking lot to the playground, the outdoor gym, the small artificial turf field and the stands, making it easy for both wheelchair users and others with reduced mobility to get around the facility. The initiative is a natural continuation of the association's ongoing work to increase accessibility, which already includes a ramp, an accessible outdoor gym and a disabled toilet. The goal is to make the entire area accessible to everyone – regardless of their circumstances.

Socially and economically sustainable

The project is characterized by committed members, leaders and children in the association. There is a strong local anchoring and the construction process will also involve local businesses. Furthermore, there is also a hope that the project will contribute to both the association and the surrounding area in the long term by promoting outdoor play and public health in a sustainable and inclusive way.

When the playground is finally completed, Bollevi will not only be a sports center, but also a meeting place where the whole family can enjoy themselves and socialize.

The board's decision justification

The area is considered to benefit from a new meeting place planned from below that is accessible to a wide audience. Play is health-promoting and the accessibility perspectives benefit both children and adults. Given that design will take place within the implementation, the board would like to make a contribution regarding additional possible values that can be added by planting vegetation for shade and biodiversity.
