Accommodation at Dahlbogården
– stage 2, cabins

In this initiative, Dahlbogården is expanded with two smaller cabins at the forest edge next to the farm, as well as a dining room and three toilets.

About the project

The project Accommodation at Dahlbogården – stage 2 is now completed. The purpose was to develop the farm into an even more attractive destination by complementing the guesthouse with two nature-close cabins and completing a dining room as well as three toilets in the main building.

Implementation and results

During the course of the project, the two cabins were built at the forest edge, creating unique overnight opportunities for guests seeking a close-to-nature experience with amenities. The dining room and bathrooms were completed and furnished, contributing to an improved guest experience and expanded opportunities to host visitors.

An important part of the project was also to create services for hikers. The three new toilets, one of which has a shower, are available for both resident guests and those hiking along the adjacent trail. This makes Dahlbogården an even better hub for long-distance hikers and nature lovers.

Challenges and lessons learned

The project faced some challenges, including delays in deliveries and rescheduling of contractors, but the result has exceeded expectations. The combination of the new accommodation options and the guesthouse's existing rooms has led to Dahlbogården now being profiled as a boutique hotel, with a holistic concept that has attracted both guests, local media, and influencers.

Next steps

With the new accommodation options in place, Dahlbogården continues to develop. The next step is to integrate online booking and broaden marketing to make the location even more accessible to visitors seeking a nature-close and unique stay.

From the project application:

”The idea is to create a unique and comfortable overnight opportunity for guests who want to experience something different.”

The board's decision justification

After the application was submitted and presented in LAG, as well as an interview with the applicant, scoring in the selection criteria showed that the project aligns well with the strategy. The project is innovative, encourages diversification, and meets the demand for accommodation options. There is a maturity in further developing in collaboration with other parties.
