Oak Park
A meeting place suitable for all ages – it has Created by Equmenia Church Lagmansholm.
About the project
Equmenia Church Lagmansholm wanted to create a meeting place that is suitable for all ages, and after being granted leader support for their idea, they took action. In a natural area, right next to the congregation, they built a playground and a nine-hole disc golf course. As you can see in the pictures, the playground blends well with the surroundings thanks to careful selection of materials and placement. There are large oak trees around the park and both the play equipment and the disc golf course have simply had to adapt to them - the result is a lovely setting and the trees provide welcome shade during the summer.
The playground consists of a playhouse, a climbing frame, a rope course, a seesaw and a crawling tunnel – and the place has certainly been appreciated! Ekparken has already gained a good reputation and both residents of the local area and school classes as well as guests from further afield come to meet, play, throw disc golf or boules, have a barbecue and eat packed lunches.
The Leader support helped make the park possible – but just as important was the support the parish received from local actors and companies. Further down the page you can see a summary of the financing of the project and it is impressive how committed people in the area joined forces to make the venture a reality. In addition to the financing, the non-profit commitment has been great and everyone has been able to help with something – everything from carpentry and groundwork to arranging coffee and keeping track of the administrative work. Regardless of the contribution, those involved in the project testify that everyone's efforts have been worth their weight in gold and have contributed to both the construction of Ekparken and the community in the parish.

”There aren’t many meeting places here and no shops, so we want to do something for the area where people of all ages can meet.”

The board's decision justification
After the application was received and presented to the LAG, as well as an interview with the applicant, the scoring in the selection criteria has shown that the project is well in line with the strategy. It is a project that can add new values to the location and become a natural meeting place for the local residents and businesses.
