New leisure and cultural activities

This micro-support will make it easier for associations and other organizations to start new, public benefit, activities within culture and leisure in Sjuhärad.

Closed for new applications

There is no longer any money left to distribute and new applications cannot therefore be accepted.

About the micro support

New leisure and cultural activities is one of our micro grants. Micro grants mean less administration and faster decisions compared to applying for leader grants for a more extensive initiative.

What can you search for?

It is possible to apply for micro-support to implement projects that contribute to a wider range of cultural and leisure activities in the area. For example, you can apply for events in the locality, testing of new activities, skills development to be able to start a new activity or purchasing equipment needed for a start-up.

Who can apply?

The application is open to associations, but other actors can also apply as long as the project benefits the public in the rural areas of Sjuhärad.

When can you apply?

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis as long as there is money left to distribute. Decisions are made by the presidium at all presidium and board meetings – dates for these can be found in our calendar and the application needs to be completely completed 14 days before the relevant decision-making meeting.

Always contact us at the leader office before you start an application. We will listen to your idea and guide you so that the application is completed correctly.

Bollebygd board game club

In this project, a meeting place for board game enthusiasts was created on the upper floor of the library in Bollebygd. To get started, strategy games for adults were purchased, based on the members' wishes. During several game sessions, the games were tested, while forms of long-term sustainability through the formation of an association were discussed.

Creation in the Bible

Bibblabbet is a creative meeting place with great potential, located in the library in Vårgårda. The micro-grant that Vårgårda Municipality was granted meant that they could arrange drop-in workshops with creative activities where participants could try out different artistic techniques such as textiles, printing, sculpture, painting and drawing. The activities were offered to children between 4 and 12 years old who, together with a relative or adult friend, had the opportunity to express themselves in a creative way. The project resulted in an exhibition at the library.

Girls' sailing – about daring and feeling safe in the boat

Viaredssjöns Segelsällskap runs a sailing school for children and young people from the age of 7. Through an educational initiative where young girls have trained adult women in an otherwise male-dominated activity, the association has now made more people feel safe and find joy in life at sea. The training included, among other things, an introduction to sailing, safety issues and driving a companion boat. The initiative was a success and the effects have not been long in coming; more women are now choosing to get involved in the club and are heading out to sea on their own.

The Clock Activity Center

Community, creativity and creation – these were at the heart of the initiative that this micro-support contributed to. In the Klockarebolet residential area in Vårgårda, there is a building that could be a great place to meet – this project was about stimulating activities to gather around. Within the framework of the project, two circles were offered – a creative and creative circle for young people and a cooking circle for adults. The hope was that the circles would lead to further activity in the house and that more people would become curious about association activities and what is possible to do if you join together. And of course they succeeded – the circles attracted participants and further activities are planned at the site.

Traditional ironwork

On the outskirts of Rydal, four young men have created a new forge for traditional ironsmithing – a craft that has had great importance throughout the history of the Sjuhäradsbygden region. During the project period, they have participated in several events. At these events, they have exhibited forged objects, demonstrated
the craft, answered questions and guided visitors as they tried out the craft. In total, hundreds of people have participated, from five-year-olds to elderly pensioners. The project has led to a large exchange of knowledge, collaborations and initiatives that promote crafts, history and cultural heritage.

Development of digital storytelling for children and young people

In this project, vBytes has developed a course in digital storytelling for middle and high school age children. The course, which has been conducted twice during the project, has inspired how to use a mobile phone and technical tools to create entertaining and exciting content. In addition to the course, a pop-up activity with try-out technology has been offered in connection with vBytes' autumn LAN. AAll to create curiosity about the possibilities that technology offers.

Cultural conversation across Sjuhärad

This project has recognized that there is much to be gained by letting different cultural actors in the Sjuhärad region work with a model for increased collaboration. Using the Warm Data Labs method, seven meetings have been held at different locations around Sjuhärad, where cultural actors from the non-profit, private and public sectors have participated. The aim has been to strengthen relationships between those active in culture/education, which will ultimately stimulate future cross-cutting activities.

Storytelling festival at Olofstorp

Olofstorps skogar is an area in Fänneslunda that carries a lot of cultural history. In this project, the Kulturgläntan association has revived the place, which in recent years has mostly been used for silent walks. A storytelling festival with, among other things, a guided walk, a musical theater performance and an improvisational theater on the program has been organized. The festival was successful and there are now good hopes for an annual storytelling festival with broad participation from a growing group of storytellers.

The clay luck

The newly started craft association SkaparLyckan opened a ceramics workshop in the Culture House in Skene in this project. The workshop has, shortly after the end of the project, already become a meeting place where young and old can meet across borders and develop their craft at their own pace. In addition to furnishing the premises, the sub-project also included training in ceramic techniques, marketing and a number of ”Open Houses” – which were very well attended.

The Gäseneryttarna youth initiative

The Gäseneryttarna association has been dormant for a number of years and the association's activities have mainly been aimed at adults. Now the aim is to expand the activities and offer a natural meeting place for children and young people. The project therefore included offering opportunities where children and young people could try different branches of equestrian sports. They also caught on to the stick horse trend and offered both activities and competitions for children and young people with such an interest.

Disc golf facility

In this project, Hudene Hembygdsförening supplemented its leisure area with a disc golf facility. The area previously consisted of several parts, such as a barbecue hut, outdoor stage, mountain bike track and hiking trail. The hope is that this initiative will attract activity to an even broader target group.

Boccia as a new sport for the disabled in Bollebygd

In this project, Hestrafors IF has expanded its activities for people with functional variations, by focusing on Boccia. In addition to purchasing equipment and developing skills (both in terms of the game but also in how the specially adapted equipment should be used), try-out days have also been arranged at Daily Operations and the special needs school in Bollebygd. A newfound contact with IF Mormors Gäng in Borås has also led to a great collaboration and there are now thoughts of a joint tournament in the future.
