New Lying
A multifunctional sports facility – this is what Sätila Sports Club has in mind. A facility that benefits both its own activities and the public and the community's youth.
About the project New Lygnevi
In Sätila, Sätila Sports Club has conducted a feasibility study with the goal of planning a new multifunctional facility at Lygnevi – a place where community life, outdoor activities, and togetherness can have even more space in the future. The feasibility study has produced concrete proposals on how a new club facility can be designed. At the same time, the project group has explored what opportunities exist to develop the lodge and the surrounding area.
Dialogue with the community has shaped the content
During the project's course, the club gathered needs and ideas from several different groups in the community – including youth, seniors, tourists, and leaders within the association. Through focus groups, meetings, and conversations, the association mapped out which functions a new facility should include. Many requested, for example, changing rooms, a flexible gathering space, service areas for camping, and spaces for recreational activities.
All material produced in the dialogue formed the basis for the drawings and program documents created by the architects. Additionally, contractors developed financial calculations showing the estimated total cost for both the clubhouse and an expanded dance lodge. In this way, the project has created a clear plan for how the area can be used in the future.
Sustainability at every step
Sustainability has been a common thread throughout the entire process. In a special workshop, sustainability consultants, contractors, architects, and active members of the association participated. Together, they identified solutions with low climate impact – for example, solar panels, circular material choices, and energy-efficient solutions. In addition, the club also invited local construction companies to discuss how to collaborate on future construction.
The project has thus not only developed technical and financial solutions – it has also built relationships in the community. New actors have become engaged, strengthening both the local economy and the club's network.
A place for multiple needs
According to the association, the project has also contributed to social and economic sustainability. By creating a place that is accessible, safe, and flexible, the club aims to help build community in the area – regardless of age, gender, or background. The feasibility study also emphasizes that the building should be able to accommodate, for example, recreational activities for youth, something that has been particularly requested in the discussions with youth groups.
The project has engaged many – and the voluntary commitment has been significant. Focus groups, planning, workshops, and administration have together generated over 120 volunteer hours. Interest from the local community has also grown during the course of the project, leading to new collaborations with companies that were previously not involved in the club's work.
For Sätila Sportklubb, the pre-study is an important step forward. The material will be used in upcoming dialogues with Marks municipality and as a basis for applications for future funding. The next goal is to go from plan to reality – and create a new Lygnevi where both sports, meetings, and sustainability have space.
The board's decision justification
The application for Nya Lygnevi shows a well-founded project plan where expert competence is included to create a solid decision basis for a potentially continued construction. The pre-study clearly supports Leader Sjuhärad's goals for an inclusive and vibrant countryside as well as sustainable and circular rural development.
